Get Involved

Ventures Travel plans, coordinates and staffs vacations for adults with developmental disabilities. A typical group consists of two travel staff and 4-7 travelers. We coordinate about 75 vacations/year to destinations throughout the US. Most of our trips depart from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and last from 3-10 days.

Here's what we look for in Travel leaders:

  • An adventuresome spirit
  • Sound reasoning skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage needs of our travelers
  • Ability to be calm in potentially stressful situations
  • Teamwork skills
  • Safety as a priority

Travel staff are responsible for the overall safety and enjoyment of the group, 24 hours a day. Some of the duties include: managing the trip budget, meds management, providing both physical and emotional support, assisting our travelers with personal cares, writing summaries of travelers' experiences, activity planning and most importantly, providing a memorable vacation for each traveler! The work can be challenging yet so very rewarding!

Travel leaders must be at least 21, have a valid driver's license and a good driving record. Certifications in medication administration, CPR, and First Aid are beneficial, but training is available. A college major in a related field is preferred but experience with people with developmental or physical disabilities is equally valuable. Must be able to assist with direct-care needs of travelers, be physically strong and mentally alert, and have effective communication skills.

People interested in volunteering their time as a travel leader are welcome to apply also.
