Staff Hiring & Training
True Friends is committed to providing all our program participants and staff with a safe and high-quality experience. Our process to hire staff begins with partnering with reputable local, national, and international organizations to find individuals best suited for the settings in which we provide services. Once the individual has applied, an average application process includes pre-screens, interviews, reference checks and background checks. Then, once the individual is hired, she/he must complete several hours of online and in-person training.

Lisa Moore, Director
I have had the privilege of working at Ventures Travel since 2010. After receiving a degree in Social Work I worked for LSS in Iowa. Next, I decided to take my social work skills to the sky and became a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines! I was a flight attendant for 25 years before joining Ventures Travel. Working at Ventures Travel combines both my education and passion for working with people, along with my travel experience! I find great joy in being a part of a program dedicated to providing life changing travel experiences for the amazing people we serve! Their stories and smiles at the end of the trip make all I do worthwhile and are a constant reminder that travel is more than just a luxury; it’s an opportunity to experience the world!
Kayleen Pfitzer, Program Manager
I started facilitating trips with Ventures Travel in 2011 and became Program Manager in April 2015. Growing up, my family went on many road trips throughout the United States, allowing me the opportunity to see many of the beautiful sites the U.S.A has to offer! After earning my bachelors degree from the UW-Stout, I moved to Thailand to teach at a vocational school for adults with disabilities. After my time in Thailand, I wasn’t quite cured of my “travel bug” so I moved to Haiti as a missionary for a year. I returned to the United States in the summer of 2014. I love my role at Ventures Travel because I get the opportunity to make travel possible for the incredible individuals we serve! Travel promotes independence, increases confidence, and fosters creativity! Every day, I get to witness the incredible influence travel has on our travelers and it brings me so much joy! I love chatting with our travelers when they return from a trip and hearing about their adventures!
